EVALUATING KOSOVO-SERBIA TECHNICAL DIALOGUE AND ITS IMPACT
On May 25, 2019 in Sabac, Serbia, CIG’s Vice President Shpetim Gashi took part in the Annual Seminar organized within the auspices of the Council of Europe by the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence and funded by the Council of Europe, OSCE, and EU. The Annual Seminar gathers a new generation of about thirty participants, mid-career decision makers, where two thirds are members of political parties while one third come from NGOs, media, business, public administration and local self-government. Shpetim Gashi spoke at a panel on the benefits of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. The panel session focused on the dialogue’s tangible results for people in Kosovo and Serbia. The discussion illustrated the progress made on such areas as freedom of movement, telecommunications, cadastral records, university diplomas, travel documents, and customs stamps, but also emphasized that these achievements are fragile and could easily be reversed as long as Belgrade and Pristina do not resolve their status dispute.
